Tiny Bones

When we woke up from our late afternoon nap and Cassandra wanted to play. I pulled out the play mat plunked her down, took a seat next to her and turned on an episode of Bones for her Momma.

She is currently more interested in watching David Boreanaz on the screen than in staring at the stuffed caterpillar over her head. That thing is supposed to play music but doesn't, maybe I'll try to contact the company about it. Do I blame her for watching Booth on the TV? Not at all! She has even managed to role over onto her side away from the toy to watch the tv. Maybe I should start putting the mat somewhere else when we play...

This picture is from a couple weeks ago.
The play mat was actually in her crib.

Must remember this:

Chubby little snowman had a carrot nose.
Along came a bunny and what do you suppose?
That hungry little bunny,
lookin for his lunch,
ate that snowman's carrot nose,
nibble nibble crunch!

Happy Birthday Alma!

Today would have been my Gramma's birthday.

I really wish she could have met my angel baby.
But, then maybe she did.

Gramma gave me ringlets.

I love you Gramma!

Hello Tiny Giraffe. Pictures Galore!!

Today's milestone:

Cassie held onto and played with her first toy!!

The tiny giraffe made by Grandma :) She shook it all around, held it up to her face, managed to get it into her mouth (which led the the funniest "this tastes awful" face) and then just held it to her. It was clenched in her tiny fist for at least 20 minutes before she let go.

This one is MY favorite <3

It is so fun watching her figure things out!

Day 4

Just a quick update:

So the other night produced a one gallon Ziploc bag full of Sweet Apple Pumpkin baby food cubes and  one tiny snack sized bag of Apple Raspberry cubes. Tonight so far we have one full tray of Cinnamon Sweet Potato Banana. The blender needs to cool off for a while now and baby had a super dirty diaper to take care of so we are letting Tiny eat and relaxing with some How I Met Your Mother.

Next up blending the rest of the straight up sweet potatoes.

Sorry sweetie. The other banana is all mine! :)

Day 3 of Adventures in Homemade Baby Food

There are two batches of Sweet Pumpkin Apple made and freezing in ice cube trays. Plus a tiny batch of Apple Raspberry, using some of the freeze-dried raspberries I have pureed into apple sauce. I need more apple sauce and more veggies before I can make anymore. I'm thinking of doing my own recipe and adding banana to the next batch of pumpkin apple. It sounds good to me and it'll be one more variety for her to try.

To expand: Today is Day 3 and you are probably (or maybe not) wondering what happened to Day 2? It didn't disappear. I wore myself out to much to make a post yesterday.

Even though the recipe called for a Pie Pumpkin, I decided to give it a go with the one I hadn't gotten around to carving. It was still good so I didn't see why not! I cut it in half; scooped out the seeds and slimy entrails; placed it cut side down on a cookie sheet and baked it. It took somewhere between 40 minutes and an hour at  400 degrees.

When it was cool enough to work with I started chopping it up bit by bit, removing the skin. Most of it was placed into a large Rubbermaid container to work with as I could.

Adventures of Making Homemade Baby Food

I have just began my first steps into the:

"Adventures of Making Homemade Baby Food."

Why waste the pumpkin that never got carved when I can make puree out of it and make some baby food without preservatives and other crap! I know it's 'not as sweet' as pie pumpkins but I think I found a recipe that makes up for it.

We actually did some "Black Friday" shopping. (Don't hate me.) We waited until almost noon to go out. I have a hard time passing up killer deals but nothing and I do mean nothing is worth fighting other people; standing in line hours and freezing my ass for! I did manage to wrangle myself a fire pit for 22 bucks! YES! My back yard is gonna fall into place next year!! Bricked off patio with a picnic table and grill, a fire pit and my garden area!

Hopefully we can rebuild the retaining wall and put in the other steps by the garage like I want too. Then all we need is a Koi pond! Which conveniently enough my brother-in-law can help with!

I can't wait until SPRING!
